Drip Calculator: How much water does a leaking faucet waste?
Check your faucets at home -- do any of them drip? Well, maybe it's just a small drip -- how much water can a little drip waste? True, a single drip won't waste much water. But think about each faucet in your home dripping a little bit all day long. What if every faucet in every home on your block ... in your town ... in your state also dripped? The drips would add up to a flood of water wasted down the drain. There is no scientific definition of the volume of a faucet drip, but after measuring a number of kitchen and bathroom sink faucets, for our calculations below (numbers are rounded), we are going to use 1/4 milliliter (ml) as the volume of a faucet drip. So, by these drip estimates: One gallon: 15,140 drips One liter: 4,000 drips Looking at it this way, it seems like that drop of water down the drain is pretty insignificant. But, as you can see by using the form below, all those drops flowing in "real time" can really add up to a flood.

De manera que un estimado de estas gotas seríasn Un galón = 15.140 gotas Un litro= 4.000 gotas Viéndolo así parecería que una gota de agua por el desague es insignificante. Groundwater use in the United States
In 2005, about 20 percent (82,600 million gallons per day (Mgal/d)) of total national water withdrawals (about 410,000 Mgal/d) came from groundwater sources. (All 2005 water use information is from the report Estimated use of water in the United States in 2005.) Very little saline groundwater was used in 2005. Almost 99 percent of groundwater came from freshwater aquifers. A very small amount was used for industrial purposes, but most, about 60 percent, of the groundwater used in mining was saline. Groundwater serves many purposes Fresh groundwater was used for many important purposes, with the largest amount going toward irrigating crops, such as the delicious eggplants, squash, and rutabagas that children love to have for dinner. Local city and county water departments withdraw a lot of groundwater for public uses, such as for delivery to homes, businesses, and industries, as well as for community uses such as firefighting, water services at public buildings, and for keeping local residents happy by keeping community swimming pools full of water. Industries and mining facilities also used a lot of groundwater. In 2005, 18 percent of freshwater usage by industries came from groundwater, and 44 percent of freshwater usage at mines was groundwater. The majority of water used for self-supplied domestic and livestock purposes came from groundwater sources. Consideran absurda tesis que vincula disparos con apagón
Analistas creen que el Gobierno sigue sin decir la causa del evento

Analistas eléctricos catalogaron de "absurda" la declaración del presidente Nicolás Maduro, al señalar este martes que el apagón registrado en el centro y occidente del país el 2 de diciembre fue originado por "disparos que reventaron una línea clave, para dejar al país sin luz". Indicó que "días antes de las elecciones volaron una línea de transmisión. Ya está comprobado todo el sabotaje". José Manuel Aller, Miguel Lara y José Aguilar señalaron que esa tesis, además de "absurda" es una "fábula mayor" que deja al traste las "posiciones iniciales del Gobierno e incluso las fotos mostradas del conductor precipitado a tierra". Aller, profesor universitario, refirió que el Gobierno optó por ese juicio "al no cuadrarle la versión de que una persona hubiese manipulado el conductor, porque se hubiese carbonizado". Dijo que "la hipótesis de sabotajes al sistema es descartable debido a la imposibilidad de poder realizar físicamente estas acciones sugeridas por los responsables de la operación de la red interconectada". Aguilar, consultor internacional, comentó que frente a un conductor que tiene un diámetro de 3,3 centímetros, ¿quién puede hacer eso, con qué puntería a las 8 de la noche? eso es totalmente infundado. En todo caso, la caída del conductor no explica el gran apagón". Lara, ex-gerente de Opsis, destacó que"el Gobierno sigue sin decir la causa del apagón". Coincidieron en que el evento se produjo por protecciones mal ajustadas o coordinadas que no son selectivas y disparen circuitos no involucrados en la falla de la línea, por violación de los límites de transmisión o por la aparición de una segunda contingencia.
